Folksy Friday - Bear Essentials

This month’s daily listing club is the aptly named November Nexus. Nexus meaning a bonded group and this month we are really trying our very best to support and encourage each other it’s been a lean few months for most, but with the festive season approaching let’s hope that things start to look up.

It seems to me that this year most people I know are just going for the bear essentials and planning their festivities around home made, practical gifts and good old fashioned home cooking, even I’m making my own mince pies this year (Thank you Kirsty for reminding us how much fun home baking is!).

My choices from the Nexus Club over the next few weeks will all focus on the bear essentials with items that are both practical and beautiful, today I’m starting with the ‘Bear’, essentials will be next week!

All for a Good Cause

I love doing craft fairs that help to raise money for charity and try where ever I can to help out. Over the past year I have donated several items for auctions and attended 3 craft fairs where all the proceeds have gone to a good cause.

On Saturday I will be at Pedal Power in Pontcanna Gardens where all the proceeds go towards providing support and equipment for children and adults with special needs to cycle around the glorious park in the centre of Cardiff. If you have a mo visit their facebook page and see the good work they do :)

Of course I’m not the only person to support charity a whole bunch of folksters got together and took part in a ‘bead soup’ event, sending each other 10 beads to create an item that will be sold with proceeds going to Breast Cancer Awareness. So far we have raised £74 and still going.

Here are just some of the items folks made, click on the pictures below to take you to the talented and generous Folksters shop......

Folksy Friday - Yum!

I love food, I love to eat, I love to grow my own and I love to cook, sadly this does nothing for my waistline! I’m already looking forward to tonight’s meal, I just harvested our little crop of tomatoes 28 in all, (they are now in the airing cupboard to ripen), I also unearthed around 20 potatoes and 12 runner beans for our tea. So tonight’s dinner will be pie, mash and green beans! drool!!! yum!!!.

So with all this food around today’s Folksy Friday picks are all about food, but not the kind that goes from your lips straight to hips. Indulge your love of food with these non fattening foody items from the September Embers daily listing club.

A Listers 23rd August

It’s been almost a year now since I discovered ACEO’s, what’s an ACEO? well, it stands for Art Cards, Originals and Editions, they are very small artworks in any medium but they must be 2.5 inches by 3.5 inches and they are collected all over the world.

I jumped at the chance to start painting again after 20 years, something I had always loved, but never had time whilst the children grew up. Although my passion for art never went away and even though I didn’t paint myself at the time, I loved going to galleries and collected art as often as I could afford. Now I have run out of wall space!, but with ACEO’s I can still indulge as I can fill albums instead.

For this weeks picks I have chosen some ACEO’s from the very talented artists on Folksy and I also want to show you the lovely ACEO’s a very dear friend sent me for my birthday last week, I was so pleased to receive them and they look great in my growing collection.
